Customers are one of the most important factors in the business world. Without customers, there will be no business. However, new customers do not come to our businesses automatically, and we need to figure out ways to reach them, attract them, and get them to keep coming back for more.  The following highlights five tips to attract new customers to our business.

Identify Ideal New Customers

Knowing the customers is among the most common tenets in any effective sales marketing. Without a composite of our ideal new customers, we would probably not know where to start finding them. Who are our ideal new customers? What do our ideal new customers want from our businesses? If we know what type of consumers we are looking for, it will be easier for us to find them.  For this step, we could take some internet research, get out to talk to different demographics, and do some old-fashioned brainstorming.

Narrow down to focus on our ideal customer and avoid overstating our market. Few products could appeal to a vast group of people. After getting a clear picture in our head of who we are targeting, we could think of what could make this kind of customers happy, relieved, sad, or scared, and figure out the ways to make their lives better and easier. As a rule of thumb, the more we know about our customers, the happier we could make them with our direct marketing, events, and products.

Offer Discounts and Promotions to New Customers

Everyone loves to have a good deal. Today, consumers are just the same; they look for value and good deals. There are so many ways to lure them into our businesses, such as providing them with introductory discounts, buy-1-get-1-free for a half-price, free gifts, or free present wrapping for the first purchase. Discounts and promotions like these could draw new customers who are considering coming to our businesses but need some incentives to motivate them to switch their shopping habits. Then, we could track what these consumers buy as well as what offers they have redeemed so that we could target them better with marketing messages in the future to cement their loyalty.

Provide Bonuses for Referrals

Once we have gained the customers’ loyalty, we could put it to work by asking and providing them bonuses for their referrals. The current customers are certainly one of our best sources to get new customers. Also, we should not just wait for them to bring family, friends, and colleagues to our business. We must take control and make a systemized approach to solicit referrals actively from satisfied customers. For example, build these referral-generating activities into our sales process, make follow-ups to ensure new customers are satisfied with their purchase and provide them with bonuses to ask them for referrals.

Use Good Network

In the business world today, there is no way to get brand awareness without meeting people, telling them our stories about who we are and what we do. We could join our trade association, local chamber of commerce, networking organizations, and others. Attend Meetup events, and other networking opportunities. When we are approaching the networking, we should have the attitude of “What can I do to help you?” rather than “What is in it for us?”

Make a Memorable Message

People like to feel connected. We could tell a story that makes our brand more memorable and attractive. In general, the more creative we get with our storytelling, the more probably we could stand out as well as improve our brand image.
